Trackback

You may publish to an external blog system using trackback out, and just as easily accept trackback pings into your Traction server.

Trackback In

Traction can accept or reject inbound Trackbacks. ACL permissions (see Access Control and Security) govern whether Trackbacks can be accepted by any space.

If accepted, TrackBacks can be forced to a selected space to allow for automatic display or moderation, as desired. TrackBacks can be displayed in Traction mingled with with other article comments, or independently.

If you are linking within a Traction server, you can use Traction IDs to link within or across space (see Linking). However, you may post an article to a Traction server and want to send a trackback to another Traction server or another blog server.

Trackback Out

The complement to Trackback In is Trackback Out.

A Send Trackback button on each article makes it easy to send outbound Trackback pings to other blog servers. The Trackback Out form auto-discovers links, allows manual link additions, and includes a manual or automatic excerpt.

Pinging related external articles with trackback

The automatic excerpt can include N words, a paragraph or your whole article or comment.

Outbound Trackback contents are published to Traction and contain bi-directional links from the article that sent it.
