28 Feb 2011 | Attivio and Traction Software Bridge Worldwide Scientific Community With Enterprise 2.0 Technology

ImageNEWTON, Mass, Feb. 28, 2011 -- Attivio, Inc. and Traction® Software today announced their work with the Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI) and Cornell University to create a community portal, bringing together scientists, biologists, universities and agricultural organizations from more than 45 countries to collaborate, educate and disseminate details on wheat rust research and best practices to prevent its spread. To date, the portal has been very successful and was recently honored with a 2010 Forrester Groundswell Award in the category of "Social Impact".

"Within the scientific community, knowledge is typically spread through presentations and the publication of research within leading journals – a process that can slow the exchange of knowledge by months and years," said Stefan Einarson, director of IT for the Durable Rust Resistance in Wheat Project at Cornell University. "Given the severity of the threat to the world's food supply, the BGRI could not afford to operate on that kind of timeline. We needed a collaborative platform that could be easily organized and updated and be accessible from anywhere in the world. The combination of Traction Software and Attivio gave us exactly what we were looking for." Read » full release
